Event Details

This Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) required training is to be provided to maintenance and custodial personnel that work in areas where Asbestos Containing Materials (ACMs) are present.

These training sessions include, but are not limited to, the following elements:

  • Health effects of Asbestos
  • Review of where possible ACMs could be in the facility
  • Recognition of ACM damage and deterioration
  • EPA/OSHA requirements related to housekeeping
  • Proper response to Asbestos releases

9:00 AM - 11:00 AM 2HR OSHA Asbestos Awareness
9:00 AM - 5:30 PM 16hr O&M Asbestos Certification
May 14
9:00 AM - 5:30 PM 8hr OSHA Refresher & Exam In order to take the refresher course, you must have completed the 16hr certification and have a current/unexpired license.

 Choose the Right aSBESTOS CLASS

16-Hour Asbestos Certification

  • Hands-on training for safely working with small amounts of asbestos-containing materials (up to 3 square feet).
  • Designed for maintenance personnel and those involved in demolition or repair work.
  • One-time certification, but an 8-hour refresher is required annually to stay certified.

8-Hour OSHA Refresher & Exam

  • Available for those who have completed the 16-hour certification and hold a current, unexpired license.
  • Meets the annual refresher requirement to maintain certification.

2-Hour Asbestos Awareness Class

  • For employees working in buildings that may contain asbestos.
  • Covers asbestos hazards and safety precautions.
  • Ideal for groundskeepers, housekeepers, office staff, and outside contractors.
  • Must be completed annually to maintain awareness.

Additional Information

  • There is no set date for when buildings contain asbestos.
  • Newer buildings may be exempt if the owner provides proof to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) that no asbestos-containing materials were used.
  • Otherwise, buildings must test for asbestos or assume it is present.
